About Us

 How it all began...

Pirate-Verte began when designer Anna Sharp couldn't find the jewellery she liked, she wanted something individual and quirky! So she started making her own jewellery.
Her fascination with pirates soon became the inspiration for her creations. She started sourcing different materials and thought of ideas of how to use things that were new and exciting. She searched the shores of Whitstable beach for washed up crab claws and shells. She created a fusion of authentic sea trinkets with treasures inspired by a pirates eye for stolen booty!
Her bricolage of materials and styles of her own jewellery soon became a hit everywhere she went. More and more people began to ask her to commission jewellery for them. Soon the demand grew so much that both of us were spending all of our spare time managing the orders. We decided to concentrate fully on making bespoke and one off jewellery.Thus the creation of Pirate Verte! 
Where We Are Now!! 
Sourcing new materials and creating innovative designs is the backbone to Pirate Verte's creations. The emphasis is on combining and selecting materials which give a truly unique character to the piece. Natural forms and organic shapes are original, special and fascinating in themselves. Shells, fossils, teeth, gemstones and many more are used to bring natural, uncontrolled beauty to our story telling creations.
With all of our imaginative pieces, somewhere along the line, some of the bits and bobs, whether natural materials or antique trinkets have a secret adventure in their past. Some dating back 150 million years. This adds to the mystery and wonder to each of our outlandish designs.
Anna wants to keep the jewellery she designs individual and distinctive so she works alongside an inhouse design team to help hand craft the collection right here in the UK.
She has found that creating one-offs & limited edition pieces to be the most refreshing and fulfilling way to combine the exotic and wonderful materials she uses. It enables Pirate Verte to introduce new pieces constantly, not being trapped or restricted to the change of season.
Being UK based and having an intense hands on approach to jewellery design and production is extremely important to us at Pirate Verte. We want to bring back the originality, individuality and long lasting quality to jewellery design. Our pieces will stand the test of time. They are not uniformed or based on fashions that become obsolete, but on a legend that evokes imagination and happiness.
